The Holy Trinity

This story is PROOF that Facebook advertising works.

For the past few months, a specific advertising has been popping up (rather annoyingly) on my feed. However, as annoying as this ad was, it was also intriguing. Amy Jo Berman, a veteran casting director, was offering up audition tips for actors.

At first I scoffed at this offer (side note: isn't scoff such a fun word?!)
I had been to workshops, casting director sessions, and audition classes--I did, after all, have my maahhhhhhhstahs (masters, sorry, I had a dramatic moment) in theatre. Shouldn't I know about this already from all my years of Stanislavsky??

Anywho, after I got over myself, I thought, "Hmm...it wouldn't hurt to just check this out."

Ms Berman gave me many Aha! moments during her Discover Me Blueprint webinar, but the BIGGEST takeaway for me was the Holy Trinity.

What is that, you say? Well, I'm here to tell you!

The Holy Trinity is Technique, Marketing, and Mindset; not only do you need all three to be successful, but you need to have all three in balance. The problem is that most actors (including myself) don't consistently have these three in balance. In fact, most actors rarely have these three in balance!

Now, if you're anything like me, then you have the Technique sector covered. One day I'm going to do a post about this, but I'm kind of obsessed with acting classes, studying, practicing and learning different techniques, etc--I teach it for goodness sake! But, if I'm honest with myself, my Marketing sector is really suffering. My Mindset isn't much better, either :(
SO, here is my new goal: get my Holy Trinity balanced!

An actor can have all the talent in the world, but without the proper marketing then no one will ever know! The opposite is also true: an actor can have fabulous marketing, but if he/she can't deliver on set, then what's the point? That career is going nowhere! And without the proper mindset, then how can you have the stamina and mental endurance to keep powering through?

I'm looking forward to sharing this all with you! For further information, I recommend checking out Amy Jo Berman's site.

Happy creating :)

You are probably wondering this blog is about. Well, it's about anything that everything that I find inspiring, helpful, and curiosity building.

Curiosity is my favorite state of being, and I've become a treasure hunter and a trash hoarder, collecting all sorts of articles, artwork, and accessories that fuel my inspiration and creativity.

This will also be a place for me to document my life as an actor and coach in Los Angeles. If performing is your passion, I hope that this blog becomes a place for you to learn from my mistakes, grow from my accomplishments, laugh at my witless choices, and share in this crazy, unpredictable, beautiful, life in the arts.
